Experimental Aircraft Interior Options Details

Information Regarding Material Options:

We offer a wide range of material options for your aircraft interior. Some of the Pros and Cons of each specific material are listed below. Materials are interchangable and mixable on all of our interior kits. In addition to the materials listed, we can also accomodate other requests. Just contact us!

Artificial Leather -

Often refered to as Ultra-Leather, this is a modern Polyurethane material that is available in hundreds of colors, textures, and different finishes. We use at a minimum Automotive Grade Artificial Leathers that have excellent wear resistance, color fastness, and are burn resistant. We also offer Artificial Leathers applicable to the aviaition industry, in that they are certified to conform to FAR 25.853 Burn Specifications. The material is easy to care for and clean, and is relatively inexpensive compared to Microfabrics and Real Leather. Artificial Leather is often heavier than microfabrics and some Leathers.

Real Leather -

When it comes to durability, long life, wear resistance, and comfort, nothing does it better than Real Leather. All of our Leather (unless specifically requested) , is chemically tanned and dyed, and offer superb abrasion resistance and color fastness. Our standard leathers are Automotive quality leathers that are designed and tested for the modern day Automotive environment; extreme temperature variations and the robust requirements of the user will have little effect on Real Leather. Real Leather is expensive compared to its Artificial counterpart, and requires more care in the form of UV protectant and Leather care products. Cleaning of real leather is simple, and can be accomplished with warm water and mild detergent.

Microfabric-

Microfabric, also known as Alcantara, Comfort, or Ultrasuede, is a high qualtity polyurethane fabric. Modern Microfabrics have a velour or suede type pile on the surface. The material is often used as a substitute for leather or artificial leather, and provides comfort, excellent durability, light fastness, and stain resistance. Our standard Microfabrics are burn resistant, and are available with FAR 25.853 certification. Cleaning can be accomplished with a damp cloth, or with a chemical cleaner for tough stains.

Burn Resistance-

All of our materials are burn resitant, and at a minimum, are certified to FMVSS302, which is applicable to Automotive interiors. We also have a large selection of materials that we can offer that are certified to FAR 25.853/JAR 25.853. Seat Options

Headrest Options-

Seating for our Zenith 601/650 and 701 are available with a vertically adjustable headrest assembly. The seats are built with a metal headrest mount inside of them, and automotive style - removeable headrests are installed. The headrests are covered and styled to match the seat cover materials.

Seating for Vans RV6/7/9 and RV-14 series have an integrated non-removeable headrest that is built onto the seat and extend 19cm above the upper L bracket on the seat frames.

Lumbar Support Options-

We offer differnt options to help make your seats more comfortable. One available option is the addtion of Lumbar supports inside of the seat to help maintain correct body posture durring long periods of sitting.

-Fixed Foam style Lumbar Supports

-Hand-pump style Inflateable Lumbar Supports

-12VDC Electric Lumbar Supports.

The lumbar supports are fixed inside of and under the seat cover, and can be adjusted using a ball-type hand pump with built in release valve, or with a single 20mm toggle switch.

The 12VDC Lumbar Support in built into the seat underneith the cover, and the pump module is placed in the seat back. The Toggle switch and wiring are included.

Heated Seats-

Upon request, we can equip your seats with 12VDC Heat. The seat back and seat bottom each have a seperate heating element installed under the cover. The heated seat option includes all necessary wiring and switches.

5 - Level Rotary Switch Type

2 - Level (Low-Off-High) Switch Type

Each Heating Mat draws a maximum of 25 Watts, so 50 Watts Per Seat. Using a 12VDC Electrical System, each seat draws a little more than 4 amps per seat when switched on High.

Foam Options-

Our Standard Seats are all constructed using multipe layers of different density Polyurethane Foams, which are built to vary support according to weight distribution of a seated passenger. Our foams are all burn resistant and tested to FMVSS 302 specifications at a minimum, and offer long life, excellent support, and durability to last decades.

In addtion to our Standard Foam builds, we also offer the option of upgrading the seats using Viscoelastic (Memory / Space Foam) for customers who wish to do so. We can build our seats using either a combination of standard Polyurethane Foam and Memory Foam (Where the Standard PU Foam is at the bottom of the seat) or completely of Memory Foam. We are able to offer both medium denisty and light density Memory Foam in our seat builds.

The use of memory foam has advantages and disadvantages, and we would be happy to discuss these options with you. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.

Finishing Options-

We offer fully customizable seat designs and work hand-in-hand with the owner/builder to give them multiple options to suit their tastes. In addition to your selection of materials for the seat, you can let us know how you would like the seams of the seat should be finished, if you would like additional customized embroidery on the seats, or special designs in the seat back.

Seam Finishing

We can finish the seams of the seats (the outside edges, as well as the individual parts sewn together that make up the seat cover) using one of three options.

  1. Double Seam Sewing - This is a popular option on the edges of the seat. We can do this sewing in a matching or contrasting color of your choice. The seams are reinforced and sewn multiple times to add strength and stability to the seat cover.
  2. Piping - We can finish the edges of the seat using piping. We manufacture the pipping in house and can match the pipping to the existing seat material, or add any color you wish for contrasting. The piping is kept to the outside of the seat to avoid contact with the pilots and passengers while seated. Piping is usually much more visible than simply sewing the seams, and is popular where a lot of contrast is desired.
  3. Plain - The seams are sewn without any finish stitching or pipping.

Embroidery

We can add customized emboridery to your interior. With our in house embroidery maschine, we are capable of embroidering small or large designs onto your seats for a personalized look. If you have any questions, or would like to know about our custom embroidery possibilities, feel free to contact us!
